THE DEC TEAM WELCOMES CLIENTS FROM VARIOUS FIELDS OF INTEREST AND BACKGROUNDS

HOME SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONS AND TUTORING: DEC specializes in online instruction and tutoring. Limited face-to-face instructions are also available within a travel radius of 50 miles of Columbus, Georgia. DEC tutors create and teach interest-based/project-based lessons in accordance with state standards. We are experienced teachers and tutors who are personable, knowledgeable, and can keep a student actively engaged and learning in one-to-one sessions.

ESL/ESOL STUDENTS: DEC tutors teach English as a second language to secondary school and university students.

TEST PREPARATION: DEC conducts tutoring sessions for ACT English, grammar, literature, reading, SAT reading, SAT writing, vocabulary, and writing

TUTORING RATES AND POLICY

Basic hourly rate for tutoring is $30, plus travel expenses for face-to-face sessions.

OUR TUTORING TEAM

Tom Delaney leads the DEC team. He has four decades of experience as a secondary and university instructor. Dr. Delaney is currently a member of the English Department at Columbus State University, where he teaches academic writing.

He is also an associate professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where he teaches research writing.

He is a published author (As If There were No Tomorrow: Saga of a Jailhouse Teacher) and served as a field editor for Learning Magazine. For four years, as a member of a select group of facilitators for the University of Georgia, he conducted a series of professional development seminars around the country under the theme, “Teaching the Difficult to Teach.”

QM Certified

Dr. Delaney received a QM certification of completion in online instruction in 2020. QualityMatters (QM) is the global organization leading quality assurance in online digital teaching and learning environments. It provides a scalable quality assurance system for online and blended learning used within and across organizations.

QM professional development is designed to help educators deliver the promise of quality online learning opportunities to every level of learner.

He earned a T-7 teaching certification in 1999 and national certification in Conflict Mediation in 2007. He holds a B.A and M.Ed. in English, and a Ph.D. in Education Administration. All DEC tutors are trained and qualified by Dr. Delaney and meet the highest standards in customer satisfaction.
